Child Custody, Visitation and Support

An Advocate for Parents and Children

The relationship between parents and children is one of the most crucial issues dealt with by family law. In both divorce and paternity circumstances, the court wants to see to it that children's interests are protected, and they rely on the parents and their attorneys to make arguments for how to do so.

I can be your voice in these determinations. Contact me to schedule a free initial consultation at my Ocean City office about your child custody, visitation and/or support concerns.

Helping You With the Central Legal Issues

In New Jersey, the issue of child custody and visitation is dealt with by designating a "parent of primary residence," as well as — in most cases — a "parent of alternate residence." It is also true in most cases that both parents will continue to have an influence over education, health care and other important decisions.

Child support is governed by state guidelines that take into account the income of both parents. One major issue in child support cases is getting an accurate determination of the income of a parent who has more than one job, owns a business and/or has irregular income.

Child custody, visitation and support are subject to modification when the underlying circumstances change and enforcement when one party is not living up to what was determined in the judgment. I can help you seek unpaid child support, changes to child custody arrangements that are no longer working, or any other modification or enforcement you believe is necessary.

I know how important your children are to you. When the law steps in to your parent/child relationship, contact me for legal help.

Placing the Children's Needs First

Like most other states, New Jersey has a legally binding policy making the best interests of the children the highest priority in child custody, visitation and support matters.

Often, people who come to me are in the mind-set of thinking primarily about themselves. This is understandable; a divorce or another family dispute is a deeply personal matter.

When these disputes affect children, though, it is my job as a lawyer to encourage my clients to think about what is in the children's best interest. I can offer skilled legal advice and counsel to guide your decision as to the outcomes you choose to pursue.
